Washington, D.C. – April 10, 2024 – WestExec Advisors today announced that former Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman has been named a Principal of the firm, and former Energy Department Assistant Secretary for International Affairs Jonathan Elkind has joined as a Senior Advisor. Drawing on their deep experience spanning government service, the private sector, and academia, they will assist clients who are innovating and investing in the energy space and working to address critical climate change issues around the world.
Dan most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Centrus Energy Corp., a trusted supplier of nuclear fuel and services for the nuclear power industry. From 2009 through 2014, he served as Deputy Secretary of Energy. Earlier he was a Special Assistant to the President and National Security Council Senior Director for Nonproliferation and Export Controls (1993-1996). An expert in energy, nuclear nonproliferation, and national security issues, he has authored several books and serves on the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Council.
Jon is currently a Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy, as well as an adjunct professor in Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. Before joining the university, he served from 2009 to 2017 at the Department of Energy, including as Assistant Secretary for International Affairs. In government, he was responsible for coordinating a range of energy and climate policy programs with global partners. He has also served on the National Security Council and in the Office of the Vice President. In the private sector, Jon founded Eastlink Consulting, which advised businesses on infrastructure projects and investments.
