Former U.S. Diplomat in Japan

Brandon is a Senior Advisor at WestExec Advisors. Currently based in Japan, he supports the outbound expansion of Japanese companies and provides growth advisory for biotech, AI, and the token-based economy. In 2024, Brandon completed a 17-year career as an American diplomat, serving across six U.S. missions globally. Career highlights included advancing Bilateral Investment Treaty negotiations with Pakistan, managing a complex sanctions regime against the Maduro dictatorship, spearheading the use of stablecoins for humanitarian relief to Venezuelan health workers, and advancing religious tolerance, anti-corruption, and start-up investment initiatives as part of the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. During his transition to the private sector, he completed a fellowship with the U.S. start-up ConsenSys, where he played a key role in introducing DeFi and blockchain technologies to Korea, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

Brandon’s previous diplomatic assignments include serving as the Political-Economic Section Chief at the U.S. Consulate in Fukuoka. While stationed at the U.S. State Department’s East Asia Bureau, he was responsible for advancing U.S. economic policy goals specifically for the APEC Summit and the Transpacific Partnership (TPP). His extensive overseas service includes tours in Indonesia, Venezuela, Japan, Pakistan, Peru, and Argentina.

A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Brandon graduated with honors from the University of Virginia and conducted studies abroad in local universities in Chile and Brazil. He speaks Portuguese, Indonesian, and Spanish fluently, with conversational proficiency in Japanese and basic Urdu. His favorite thing to do is to teach weight lifting and longevity methods to friends.
